What is a lower eyelid lift?

What do I need to consider before a lower eyelid lift?

Before the procedure, a detailed consultation consultation and a thorough analysis of the skin condition.
In preparation:

• Abstain from alcohol, nicotine and blood-thinning medication for about two weeks before the procedure
• Appear without make-up on the day of surgery
• Do not wear contact lenses
• Use sunglasses with high UV protection after the procedure

How does a lower eyelid lift work?

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis local anaesthetic or twilight sleep.
Depending on the findings, the incision is usually made directly under the lash line so that scars are barely visible later on.
In special cases, for example in younger patients, access can be via the inside of the eyelid (transconjunctival).
The operation takes around 120 minutes. The aim is to gently remove excess skin, reduce or redistribute fat deposits and harmoniously rejuvenate the eye area.

What are the risks of a lower eyelid lift?

A lower eyelid lift is a safe routine procedure when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.
Slight swelling, bruising or feelings of dryness are normal in the first few days.
Rare risks such as eyelid malpositions, asymmetries or infections only occur very rarely thanks to careful planning and hygienic standards.

What do I need to consider after a lower eyelid lift?

After the operation, the eye area should be protected and cooled regularly.
An elevated head position when lying down helps to reduce swelling.
Avoid the first two weeks:
