The nose is considered a particularly distinctive feature on the human face, because it ensures a harmonious facial image and a beautiful profile. However, because some people have a misshapen nose or excessive disproportion, this affects their self-esteem. Moreover, an accident can also lead to deformation and thus impair the function of nasal breathing. In such a case, a professionally performed rhinoplasty can help, as it gives the nose an aesthetic shape that also looks completely natural. Many people immediately associate a rhinoplasty with a surgical procedure, but there is also a minimally invasive way of changing the shape of the nose – without surgery. Injection with hyaluronic acid is ideal for responding to the various wishes of patients.

When is a rhinoplasty used?

A rhinoplasty is also known as a nose job and is usually a surgical procedure in which the shape of the nose is modeled according to the patient’s wishes. Thus, the entire nose or only a part of the nose, such as the bridge of the nose or the nostrils, can be straightened and corrected as desired. However, surgery is not always necessary to correct the nose – the nose can be brought into shape with little effort by injecting hyaluronic acid.

The size and shape of the nose is primarily influenced by genes. For some people, smaller or larger asymmetries are naturally visible. However, accidents or a broken nose can also deform the nose. As a result, functional disorders of the nose are not uncommon. A rhinoplasty can help to balance proportions and achieve a change in shape with a harmonious and natural result. In addition, a significant improvement in functionality can be achieved in this way. Thus, the surgical correction of the nose can be done for different reasons. For example:

  • to reduce the size or width of the nose, such as a wide nose or a disproportionately wide nose.
  • to straighten the bridge of the nose, correct bumps on the upper bridge of the nose, or improve a downwardly curved tip, for example on a hooked nose.
  • to build a deep bridge of the nose, such as a saddle nose.
  • to straighten an odd nose axis like a crooked nose.

Who is a rhinoplasty for?

Basically, the procedure is suitable for all patients who are dissatisfied with their nose. Even people who suffer from emotional pressure due to the shape or appearance of the nose can appear more self-confident with a professionally performed rhinoplasty. However, there are not only aesthetic reasons for a rhinoplasty, the desire for a correction is often also based on functional disorders. In such cases, patients should be advised to undergo surgery, since no anatomical changes can be achieved by injecting hyaluronic acid. During a consultation, Dr. Matiasek assesses whether an injection with hyaluronic acid is suitable for you or not.

What do I have to consider before a rhinoplasty?

Before the nose is corrected, a conversation takes place in which Dr. Matiasek will explain the exact course of the treatment to you. He will also discuss the desired result with you in detail, because your ideas form the basis for your individual treatment plan. In addition, a thorough examination takes place in which both the nasal mucous membranes and the function of nasal breathing are examined. As a matter of principle, make sure that you avoid blood-thinning drugs such as aspirin one week in advance.

How does a rhinoplasty work without surgery?

The rhinoplasty not only increases your self-esteem, but also your well-being. The advantage of a rhinoplasty without surgery is that the treatment can be carried out quickly and easily. At the beginning, your skin is cleaned and disinfected, then a local anesthetic is applied to the areas to be treated in order to make the treatment as pleasant as possible you. Then Dr. Matiasek injects hyaluronic acid into the skin or subcutaneous tissue using extremely thin sterile cannulas. Depending on the individual anatomical conditions and the desired treatment, Dr. Matiasek makes a different number of punctures in different places. A nose correction with hyaluronic acid takes about 30 minutes and you can go back to your usual routine immediately after the treatment.

What are the complications and risks of a rhinoplasty?

Basically, there can be risks or complications with any rhinoplasty. Surgical interventions, in particular, always involve a certain risk, which, however, does not apply to injections with hyaluronic acid. But even with a nose correction without surgery, certain side effects are possible and sometimes completely normal. Slight swellings and redness are typical side effects in the first few days after the hyaluronic acid injection, but they are not worth considering and will go away by themselves within a few days. You don’t have to expect painful downtime after a rhinoplasty without surgery but can go about your everyday life without restrictions.

What do I have to consider after a rhinoplasty?

After a rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid, in contrast to a surgical rhinoplasty, you do not have to pay attention to many things, and you can go back to your usual everyday life immediately after the treatment. Nevertheless, there are a few points that you should definitely pay attention to even after the hyaluronic acid injection. Immediately after the treatment, the injected hyaluronic acid gel is still malleable, which is why it is important that you do not wear glasses for a certain period of time. In order for your body to fully recover, Dr. Matiasek advises his patients to refrain from physical exertion on the day of treatment. In this way you prevent the slight swellings, redness or hematomas from getting bigger and being able to heal as best as possible. Make sure to keep the skin around the nose dry on the day of the hyaluronic acid injection and do not apply make-up again until the next day.

When will the results of the rhinoplasty be seen?

You can see the first results of the rhinoplasty without surgery immediately after the treatment. After a few days, the hyaluronic acid has shown its full effect and you can look forward to a well-shaped nose that harmoniously complements your facial proportions. In contrast to a surgical rhinoplasty, the injection of hyaluronic acid is not permanent. The results usually last around 12 months as the body gradually breaks down the hyaluronic acid. So that you can enjoy your newly shaped nose permanently, Dr. Matiasek repeats the rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid every 12 to 18 months.

A rhinoplasty without surgery is in many cases an excellent alternative to classic rhinoplasty using surgery. An injection of hyaluronic acid can lead to an improvement in quality of life and an increase in self-confidence. As an experienced doctor, Dr. Matiasek can offer you individual advice and treatment in order to fulfill your desire for a well-shaped nose and a harmonious facial profile.
